Recovery strategies include identifying critical functions that must continue during a disruption, determining the technological and human resources needed to support these functions, and assessing the potential financial and operational impacts of downtime.
This is where key metrics such as RTO and RPO are established. Management determines these calculations strictly from a risk tolerance perspective. It’s then up to the IT and security team to start forming a BCDR strategy to implement the necessary processes and measures to ensure these objectives are met.
