Splitting audio with sends
Sending entire track audio to a send is fine if you want the sound to totally be affected by the Aux it’s being routed to, but what if you want to also have an unaffected version of the audio still be present in the mix? A good example of this is when adding reverb effects to a track. While there is usually a wet/dry mix parameter that can be adjusted, to sound natural, you typically want to have a completely dry vocal mixed in with a complete wet reverb. This is where sends are used. Sends allow you to split a signal and send it to several different tracks. You can have a clean signal remain in the main mix, while also splitting it and sending that second signal to an Aux track. We’ll learn how to do this in this recipe.
Getting ready
