Choosing a Statistical framework
Choosing a Statistical framework depends on many factors. For the past few decades, there has been and still is a debate if the Frequentist framework is better than the Bayesian and vice versa. A much better approach is to try to differentiate in which specific study designs and life science areas it is better to use a Frequentist and in which a Bayesian approach and what is their level of scientific defensibility.
Even though these frameworks have similar roots in probability, their applications in Life Science research are different. The Frequentist framework is best used for studies in which we have enough data to be able to base strong claims based on that data and the context around it. Such examples are usually large retrospective studies, longitudinal studies, phase II, III, IV studies, and post marketing clinical studies.
