Adding zones to BIND and configuring a nameserver
In this recipe we will learn how to add zones to BIND in order to finalize the configuration of a nameserver.
BIND performs name-resolution services through the named
daemon, and having already created your forward and reverse zone files, you are now in a position to complete the configuration of the named
service in order to implement a fully qualified domain name service across your local network.
Getting ready
To complete this recipe you will require a working installation of the CentOS 6 operating system with root privileges, a static IP address, and a console-based text editor of your choice. It is expected that BIND has been installed, that it is already running, and that you have prepared the required forward and reverse zone files.
