Summary

Performance is one of the most important things you can implement as part of your SharePoint farm and environment. Without it, you will hear from your user community. I have done my best to provide as much information as possible within the confines of this book. Make sure to follow the guidelines we set here and always look at how you can tune your environment based on the ups and downs of concurrent users and services, which could peak at a certain time of the day.

Monitor your environment daily and understand how it is performing. You should also pay attention when tickets for issues come in. This can tell you a lot about your farm and when it has the worst performance. Home in on those time frames and see what is going on; for example, you could have peaked on CPU or memory. Investigating issues like these is crucial to getting in front of problems instead of waiting for them to happen.
