Configuring XenDesktop® components for high availability

In the previous chapter, we learnt how to install a Citrix Delivery Controller and StoreFront in a XenDesktop environment.

In this section, we will discover how to install a second Delivery Controller in order to provide high availability and load balancing.

Installing an additional Delivery Controller

We discussed the importance of Citrix Delivery Controller in earlier chapters. If a server acting as Delivery Controller is unavailable, users will not be able to access either their virtual desktops or the published applications.

For this reason, it is the best practice to configure at least two Delivery Controllers on the different physical servers in order to prevent this component from becoming a single point of failure.

Also, adding more Citrix Delivery Controllers to a XenDesktop environment is very important because, by doing this, you can increase scalability and performance.
