Roles and responsibilities

There are many key roles for release and deployment management, the process owner, the process manager, and the process practitioner. As was discussed in Chapter 5, there are common responsibilities for every process owner and process manager. There are some key responsibilities that the release and deployment management roles need to consider.

For the release and deployment management process owner, this role needs to work very closely with the change management process owner to document the policies about when a change must be included in a release because it is the responsibility of change management to authorize the various activities of release and deployment management. Putting together a consistent policy for these two elements of service management will be critical for maintaining the relationships between these processes.
