Exploring career approaches to progress
The philosopher Rumi said, “What you seek is seeking you.” So, when it comes to approaches to career progress, it is all about what you want to do and how willing you are to sacrifice to attain your goal. There are different career paths that you can take to the role of the CIO and CISO. It is not always the case that the same path will be trodden by every person. We are all different, and we need to appreciate the alternate routes you can take.
In this section, we will discuss the four different routes that you can take on your journey. We will note the traditional career path as a classic approach and the linear career path as an accelerated one with commensurate growth. The transitory and spiral approaches are less observed but are interesting alternative options.
