Roles and responsibilities
There are key roles for configuration management, including process owner, process manager, and process practitioner. As we discussed in Chapter 5, there are common responsibilities for every process owner and process manager. There are some key responsibilities that the configuration management roles need to consider. The configuration management process owner is accountable for ensuring the process meets the needs of the business. The role must be the sponsor for the process, provide design guidance, and ensure changes to the process are managed and improvements are identified and implemented appropriately. The process owner will ensure accurate documentation is maintained on the process and define how the process will be measured for compliance and performance.
