A home assessment is a common interview task many companies use to check a candidate’s skills in dealing with a real-world problem. Home assessments require us to plan, architect, code, test, and deploy, sometimes with unfamiliar iOS topics we have no experience with.

What does a home assessment look like?
The framework for a regular home assessment won’t come to you as a surprise. However, it is still worth going over it so we can be aligned on the process:
- Assignment: This is the initial phase where we receive the task, including the requirements and instructions.
- Understanding: In this stage, we carefully read the instructions and analyze the requirements. This is also the phase where we ask the interviewer anything we are unclear about and clarify what we must do.
