Dashboard JSON in Analytics
We know that we can build lenses and dashboards by using Wave Analytics Dashboard Designer or Classic Designer. It is an easy no code approach that gives us insight into the data. The user can build clean and meaningful dashboards for business using this approach. However, sometimes this is not enough for complex or more customized dashboards. In this case, we need to edit Dashboard JSON. We need to modify the Dashboard JSON file to do advanced customization. We have already gone through a couple of assignments in previous chapters where we have edited Dashboard JSON. Dashboard JSON decides how the components on the dashboards should interact with each other. Using Dashboard JSON, we can perform the following steps:
- Manual binding of the components and the steps
- Binding static step to other components on the dashboard
- Setting the row limits
- Setting filters
- Creating dynamic and complex queries
- Setting the layout
- Adding the column values
