Navigating in 2D/3D and learning the basics of modeling

In this section, we will learn how to fluently navigate through and interact with a model in both 2D and 3D.

Opening your first model

Before we can learn how to navigate in 2D and 3D, we need a model. For this, we will use the demo model that you just downloaded. We will use this example throughout this chapter to learn how to navigate in Archicad.

You can open the model by either double-clicking it in your Finder/Explorer (hence starting the Archicad application) or by first starting up Archicad and browsing for the file through File > Open > Open... (Cmd + O/Ctrl + O), clicking Open once you have selected the correct project within the right folder in the following dialog screen:
