Objective
The objective of this lab is to introduce SR-MPLS into a traditional LDP-based MPLS topology. In the previous lab, emphasis was placed on examining the Intermediate System-Intermediate System (IS-IS) LSPDU and the LSDB, as understanding these elements is crucial for comprehending how Segment Routing (SR) information propagates throughout the network to establish the SR-MPLS control plane. While the MPLS data plane remains unchanged, the lab demonstrates how both MPLS control plane information types are programmed into two distinct MPLS data planes, a concept not dissimilar to the MPLS forwarding plane, as LDP and RSVP-TE also coexist in traditional MPLS networks.
This is achieved through the following tasks:
- Design a straightforward schema for using Segment Identifiers (SIDs) in the SR-MPLS network, keeping it simple and easy to follow
- Configure SR on a select few routers in the network
- Inspect the IS-IS TLV extensions designed to facilitate the distribution...
