Enabling captions on videos and audio
Back in Chapter 6, we looked at the difference between subtitles and captions:
- Subtitles are manually added text overlays that become part of the video file. These can be generated (and edited!) through Canva’s Subtitles app. When you download a video with subtitles, the subtitles are embedded, ensuring they are visible on any device or platform where the video is played.
- Captions are automatically generated transcripts that appear when a video is played within the Canva platform. However, these captions are not embedded within the video file itself. As a result, when you download a video with captions from Canva, the captions will not be included. Captions can also not be edited if Canva misinterprets the audio and generates a mistake.
