Creating a meme

Memes often take the form of images, videos, or text shared widely online. They are typically humorous and often satirize current events or cultural phenomena. They are a way to express yourself and a great way to make our audience empathize and interact with our brands.

That’s why Canva is full of templates for creating beautiful memes. Despite that, we are not going to use any template. Let’s create one from scratch instead.

How to do it...

To create a meme in Canva, follow these steps:

1. Open a project of the size most convenient for the platform you will be posting on. For example, if the meme will be posted on Facebook or Instagram, use the 1,080x1,080 px format.
2. Press R on your keyboard to create a rectangle. Set its color to black and size it so that it is longer than it is tall.
