Creating and managing the Microsoft Teams policies for private channels
Private channels only appear for members of that private channel within a team. While all team members see the standard and general channels, you must be made a member of the private channels within that team separately. Private channels do not share a SharePoint site collection with their parent team – it provisions a new, separate SharePoint site to maintain the security boundary of the private channel membership.
Note
Private channels have some limitations. Any team can have up to 30 private channels over the team's life, meaning deleted private channels still count toward the 30. Private channels are also limited to 250 members. Additionally, you won't be able to use Forms, Stream, or Planner as channel apps/connectors (since there's no unique Microsoft 365 group for the channel's membership), and channel meetings can't be scheduled for private channels.
