Process terms and definitions
There are a number of key terms related to release and deployment management including releases, deployment, transference, retirement, release models, release types, and deployment types. In this section, you will learn the definitions of these terms.
Releases
A release is defined as one or more approved changes. A release can be one major change, multiple changes that may or may not have dependencies between them, a change and a release, or two or more releases combined.
Deployment
Deployment refers to the act of moving a release from one environment to another. For example, when development has completed their work on the release, deployment will move the release from the development environment to the test environment, where an independent testing team will perform their activities.
