Completing the hull front

In this section, we will add some objects to the top plate at the front of the hull, such as windows, viewports, and hatches. In the following steps, we will be creating the driver viewport:

  1. Create a plane and extrude its edges downward.
  2. Bevel the edges and use loop cuts to create dents in the sides.
  3. Solidify the shape with Alt + S and use the same technique to create a cover for it.
  4. Add some small details to the shape.

  1. Use cubes with beveled edges to create some bars on the top plate, under the window.

Next, we will create some headlights for the tank in a few steps:

  1. Add a cylinder and turn it to the side.
  2. Bevel the Edge Loop at the back.
  3. Inset and extrude a face at the front.
  4. Add some details, such as screws and bevels.

Figure 8.25 shows the procedure for shaping the headlight.
