GOM

A GOM is a crucial concept in the field of OT and ICSs. It refers to the framework for managing and overseeing processes, policies, and procedures that govern cross-functional relationships and responsibilities between IT and OT. A GOM is particularly important in the OT and ICS environment because these systems are responsible for controlling and monitoring mission critical industrial processes. In this section, we will explore the GOM and its key elements, with a focus on roles and responsibilities for IT and OT, as well as the segregation between control functions (that is, Basic Process Control Systems (BPCSs), Distributed Control Systems (DCSs), and safety functions (that is, SISs). We will also discuss challenges, opportunities, trends, and maturity levels associated with implementing a GOM in the OT and ICS environment.
