In contrast to Windows Services, Windows Registry is considered to be the heart of the Windows operating system. When you install an application or a device driver in your Windows 10 computer, it is stored in Windows Registry. That way, Windows Registry acts as a hierarchical database that stores the hardware and software configurations and system security information. Once you access Windows Registry, you will notice that its root keys pane has five registry keys, known as hives (that is, HKEYs).
