Using federated data connections
A good way to think of federated data is as an in-memory cache layer. Federated is a great fit when there are large existing data lake investments and infrastructure that can be accessed via Domo without replicating the data.
Follow these steps when you need to connect to a federated source that is accessing the data where it is currently stored outside of the Domo cloud. Federated sources supported at the time of writing are Amazon Athena, Amazon Redshift, Google Big Query, IBM DB2, Microsoft Azure, SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Presto, SAP Hana, and Snowflake:
- Log in to your Domo instance.
- Click on the DATA main menu item.
- Click on the FEDERATED sub-menu item.
- If you haven't created a federated account, do so now by clicking the ADD NEW ACCOUNT button in the bottom left corner.
- Select the adaptor. In this case, let's choose PostgreSQL.
- Click on the orange NEXT button.
- Fill in the configuration...
