Deploying the vCloud Director environment from AutoLab
If you don't have vCloud Director available in a lab environment, an automated option to set up an environment is the AutoLab, created by Alastair Cooke, and it is supported by many VMware community members. AutoLab is available from http://www.labguides.com, and it is a set of VM definitions for ESXi or for VMware Workstation and VMware Fusion to configure an entire, self-contained lab environment.
You will still need to obtain all of the software yourself; however, AutoLab fully automates the deployment of a functional lab environment. In additional to vSphere, AutoLab includes scripts to deploy vShield Manager and vCloud Director that were added by Damian Karlson. Deploying AutoLab will take several hours, but it's one of the fastest ways to go from zero to vCloud and to have an environment to work with vCloud Director PowerCLI.
