Previewing automation for non-destructive auditioning
Being able to write automation as you listen is vital to many mixing applications, but you will encounter situations where you need to make changes to multiple parameters at once. An EQ is a good example. While some moments might require just one frequency to be increased or decreased, more often, you will need to adjust multiple bands to create a proper curve to achieve the result you are looking for. The solution for this is Preview Automation. Using the preview function will allow you to make non-destructive changes to different plugins and dial in the sound you are looking for. Once you’ve found the settings that work best for your scenario, you can then confirm that by writing the automation to a selection. We’ll be making several changes to an audio clip to demonstrate how to do that.
