Finding and using a pattern

Now that we know about the Pattern Directory, how do we use a pattern from it? There are a few methods. First, let’s see how to search using the filters and getting the patterns for use on our sites.

Using the Pattern Directory itself

Imagine you want to find a gallery pattern. Let’s do that together by finding one that exists within the Pattern Directory:

1. First, visit the Pattern Directory and filter by Gallery. You should see a number of different Gallery patterns, as shown in this screenshot.

2. As you can see in the preceding screenshot, each of these patterns has some information displayed, including how many times they have been marked as favorites and a brief description, along with a thumbnail image.
3. Next, let’s click on the pattern named Three columns with images and text. This pattern has been marked as a favorite more than any other...
