Capabilities and cloud integrations
Comparing the different implementations of map and feature servers would require a complicated matrix to show the thousands of capabilities between each. For your general map services and feature services, the open source implementations are more than enough. ArcGIS Server web services (map, feature, imagery, geoprocessing, and many more) have the benefit of being part of the most feature-rich offering as well as having seamless integration with other ArcGIS products in their ecosystem. Companies around the world that have chosen ArcGIS as their server and have publicly available services are typically only able to share between other ArcGIS environments. ArcGIS services are in a propriety Esri feature service format, which many client-side applications are unable to read.
